Prior to coming on staff in November, Clayton worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 36 years. Born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Clayton and his wife Cathy relocated to the Rockford area in 1983. Both graduates of Elgin High School, Clayton competed in basketball and golf while Cathy participated in softball and tennis.

In the spring of 2010, Clayton was introduced to Fellowship of Christian Athletes and immediately saw the power of this ministry in reaching coaches and athletes for Christ. He was particularly drawn by the FCA’s high view of scripture and a strong desire to connect athletes with local churches.

Clayton serves as the Northern Illinois Fellowship of Christian Athletes Area Director for Lee, Stephenson, Ogle, Winnebago, Boone, and DeKalb counties. Both Clayton and Cathy have been part of the Red Brick Church in Stillman Valley since 2008.
